This homemade blueberry lemonade recipe is naturally sweetened with maple syrup and made with fresh or frozen blueberries. No cooking required, and it’s ready in just 10 minutes.
In a blender, add 1 cup of the water, maple syrup, and blueberries. Blend on medium-high for about 1 minute or until smooth.
For a smoother lemonade, strain the blueberry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag. This step is optional.
In a large pitcher, pour in the blueberry mixture, lemon juice, and remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well.
Taste and adjust with additional maple syrup, lemon juice, or water as needed.
Pour into glasses and serve over ice.
Notes
Frozen blueberries: Let them thaw slightly before blending if you don’t have a high-speed blender.
Sweetener: Agave can be substituted for the maple syrup in the same amount.
Topping ideas: Blueberries, lemon wheels, and fresh mint leaves
Optional sea salt: Add a tiny pinch to individual glasses to help bring out the lemon and blueberry flavors.
Garnishes: I like to serve this with lemon wheels, fresh blueberries, mint, and ice. Add them just before serving so the lemon rind doesn’t affect the flavor and the melting ice doesn’t dilute the lemonade.
Sparkling blueberry lemonade: Replace 1 cup of the water with sparkling water for light fizz, or up to 2 cups for a more sparkling drink. Stir it in just before serving.
