A refreshing herbal iced tea made with nettle, hibiscus, chamomile, and oat straw. Steep it hot, chill it overnight, and serve over ice with orange and a touch of sweetener if you like.
Add nettle, hibiscus, chamomile, and oat straw to a 2-quart heat-safe glass jar.
Pour about 4 cups hot water over the herbs. Cover and steep for 15–20 minutes.
After steeping, add cold filtered water until the jar is filled to the 2-quart line.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for a stronger, colder tea.
Strain through a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine-mesh strainer.
Serve over ice with orange slices and honey, maple syrup, or agave if desired.
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Notes
Steeping: Steep the loose herbs in hot water for 15–20 minutes before chilling. Refrigerate for 4–6 hours, or overnight for a stronger iced tea.
Note on Sweetening: For a vegan option, skip the honey and use maple syrup, agave, or your favorite sweetener.
Herb note: Herbal teas can be a lovely part of a wellness routine, but everyone’s body and situation are different. Check with your healthcare provider before using new herbs, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition.
