Easy and Cost-Effective One-Ingredient Breadcrumbs

Shortcuts make all the difference when you’re cooking for a family with different diets.

Having a family with different diets can be challenging and expensive.

Some of my kids like dairy and meat, while others prefer a vegan diet. But once I learned about cost-effective methods and substitutions, I found it easier to accommodate everyone.

For instance, when we make lentil loaf and meatloaf — I use flax meal instead of an egg. Also, both meatloaves require breadcrumbs — which can be made as elaborate or simple as you like.

Inexpensive and simple shortcuts.

Here’s my easy go-to (that’s hardly a recipe) for breadcrumbs in meatloaf.

Easy and Homemade One Ingredient Breadcrumbs

  1. Take a few pieces of toasted bread (sprouted works well) and rip them into inch pieces.

  2. Process in your food processor until the desired consistency.

Did I mention it’s easy?
