Fun Family Nights With Kids

Feeding our soul — no matter what’s on the menu. Finding balance between healthy eating and joy.

I center most meals around nutrition.

But each week, we have a fun family movie night and create a meal—pizza, nachos, snack boards, tacos — everything’s open.

Because my family has different preferences, we do a version with meat and without.

Last week was egg rolls. We made a batch of 100, so we had leftovers. 50 with tofu and 50 with chicken. It’s a long but fun-filled production.

Everyone chooses how to contribute — chopping, sauteeing, making dipping sauce, wrapping, frying, and cleaning (as we go).

It brings much joy and connection — even if it’s not healthy. As good as kale is for us, food is just a part of a healthy life. Fun family nights feed our souls, no matter what's on the menu.

Family Nights

Another fun way to spend time together is a family swim night. Easy exercise and lots of smiles.

Fun tip: Take a much-needed break during the holidays: Have everyone dress up in holiday-themed rash guards. I want this one!
