On Living a Hundred Years or More

One of my favorite books is The Blue Zones, by Dan Buettner — the lessons on longevity are powerful.

If you’re not familiar, the Blue Zones are regions with the most centenarians.

He connects their contributing habits and rituals, providing a model for thriving and extending our years.

One lesson that stood out for me was their diet. Though one zone is vegan, the majority eat an abundance of plant-based foods with small amounts of meat. According to Buettner’s research, “beans, whole grains, and garden vegetables are the cornerstone of all these longevity diets.”

But they do it a bit differently.

Movement is another common thread, but not at the gym. And alcohol isn’t ruled out.

There are differences yet clear foundations to living a long, healthy life.

It’s worth exploring their powerful lessons on longevity — they offer much inspiration.
