This popcorn is one of those snacks we make on repeat. Just three simple ingredients, tossed with nutritional yeast for that savory, cheesy flavor — no dairy needed.

We make this all the time for family movie nights. It’s easy, cozy, and one of the few snacks everyone agrees on. I’ll usually pop a big bowl, and it disappears faster than I expect every single time.

And if we’re doing pretzel bites too, this popcorn is so good alongside a little vegan cheese sauce or vegan nacho cheese sauce. It's a great snacking combo.

Popcorn with Nutritional Yeast

A go-to milk free and dairy free snack idea, especially for movie nights. Nutritional yeast is perfect on popcorn — giving it a cheezyish flavoring.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • ½ cup popcorn kernels
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large, thick-bottomed pan.
  • Add 3 kernels of popcorn to the pan. Secure the lid and listen for the three pops.
  • Add the remaining ½ cup kernels to form an even layer. Gently shake the pan so all kernels are coated with oil.
  • Cover, leaving it slightly ajar, to let some of the steam release as it pops.
  • Shake every thirty seconds or so to prevent burning.
  • Once popcorn slows to around 5 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
  • Pour into a large bowl and add nutritional yeast.
  • Shake to combine.

Notes

  • Watch toward the end of the cooking time to prevent burning.
