Learn how to make Cheesy Vegan Popcorn with just three simple ingredients! Nutritional yeast gives it a rich, cheesy flavor—no dairy needed. It’s quick, easy, and seriously delicious!

If you’re looking for more dairy-free snack options, check out my Easy Dairy-Free Snack collection for more quick ideas.

Popcorn with nutritional yeast.

Nutritional Yeast is a great source of minerals, B vitamins, protein, and antioxidants. Studies suggest it may support immune health, help regulate blood sugar, and improve energy levels. Perfect on top of popcorn, it gives your snack a cheesy, nutty flavor while adding nutritional benefits.

We love family movie nights here, and this is our go-to snack. The kids absolutely love pairing this with creamy Vegan Cheese Sauce or Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce with pretzel bites. So good (and so easy in the Instant Pot!)!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • ½ cup popcorn kernels
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast

Instructions

  • Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large, thick-bottomed pan.
  • Add 3 kernels of popcorn to the pan. Secure the lid and listen for the three pops.
  • Add the remaining ½ cup kernels to form an even layer. Gently shake the pan so all kernels are coated with oil.
  • Cover, leaving it slightly ajar, to let some of the steam release as it pops.
  • Shake every thirty seconds or so to prevent burning.
  • Once popcorn slows to around 5 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
  • Pour into a large bowl and add nutritional yeast.
  • Shake to combine.
