Salsa has the ability to turn good food into amazing.
Years back, I’d adapted this delicious and creamy salsa recipe I found online. Though I’m unable to credit the original author, these two versions have become family favorites.
They’re perfect over bean tamales, burritos, and almost everything else.

A salsa featuring tomatillos, onion, garlic, and Chile de árbol, with toasted pine nuts for a nutty undertone. Ideal for adding a spicy kick to any dish. 🌶️
Ingredients
Instructions
- Combine tomatillos, onion, water, bouillon, garlic, and chile de árbol in a medium saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and then simmer. Stir periodically, until softened, about 10 minutes.
- In the meantime, toast the pine nuts on low in a shallow pan, stirring often. Cook until golden.
- Add entire tomatillo mixture, pine nuts, and remaining ingredients to blender.
- Blend on low to combine.
- Adjust salt and cayenne to taste.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- Depending on how spicy you want your salsa, add 1-3 dried chiles. Chile de Arbol chiles are hot, and you can always add more.
