Have you ever thought of trying green juice but worried it might taste too, well, green?

If you’ve hesitated in the past, you’ve found the perfect starting point. This green juice recipe is energizing and refreshingly delicious. It strikes the perfect balance between tart, tangy, and sweet—designed to convert even the most skeptical into green juice lovers. Once you taste it, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to give green juice a try!

Juicing has been a part of my routine for years—it’s a simple way to rejuvenate our body and mind.

I’ve talked before about how I used to purchase carrots in 25-pound sacks and cases of apples for juicing , along with stacks of greens, beets, and lemons. It was more than a dietary choice, it was a lifestyle.

The curious looks and questions at the checkout line were endless, especially with my tribe of kids in tow. I get it, we were definitely not the norm. Buying in bulk was easier on the budget and reduced our trips to the store. Which I very much appreciated as someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy the spotlight. :)

I don’t juice as religiously as I once did as I’m more relaxed with my diet now. But juicing is still very much a big part of my routine, and I aim for 3 times per week, switching it up with green smoothies.

From simple sweet potato juices to elaborate green concoctions, I’ve experimented with them all. These energy-boosting elixirs powered my days and made me a believer in the healing power of food.

Equipment for Juicing

If you’re new to juicing, you may want to dabble a bit before going all in for a juicer (see an alternative method to a juicer below).

However, if you’re committed to making green juice a part of your routine, you’ll want a reliable juicer.

Centrifugal Juicers: Fast and convenient, they excel with hard fruits and vegetables. They can handle leafy greens combined with firmer produce, making them a great choice for quick and delicious juices.

Masticating Juicers: Slower, preserving more nutrients and enzymes. Excellent for all types of produce, including leafy greens and wheatgrass, and better for extracting maximum juice.

Cutting Board and Knife: For prepping your fruits and veggies before juicing.

Measuring Cups and Spoons: To measure if you’re following specific recipes.

Storage Containers: For juicing in batches or on the go.

Alternative Method: Blending and Sieving

If you don’t have a juicer, you can still make delicious green juices using a blender and a sieve. Here’s how:

  1. Place all your ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until completely smooth.

  2. Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or a nut milk bag over a bowl. Use a spoon or spatula to press the pulp and extract as much liquid as possible.

  3. Discard the pulp or save it for other recipes like a smoothie, and enjoy your juice!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Wash all produce thoroughly. Core the apples (if your juicer requires or if blending) and peel the orange if using. Roughly chop the cucumber to fit your juicer.
  2. Start with the leafy greens. Follow with parsley, apples, and cucumber to push through all the green residue. Add ginger, and finish with lemon juice and orange.
  3. Stir the juice well before serving. Serve immediately over ice for the best taste and nutrient intake, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake well before serving as natural separation may occur.

Notes

  • Lemon sizes vary, so adjust to taste. Add more for extra tartness.
  • Use red apples, like Fuji, for a sweeter juice.
  • Ginger is strong, so start with less and add more to taste.
  • If the juice is too strong, dilute it with filtered water.
  • Served over ice for a chilled juice.
  • If pregnant, nursing, or on blood thinners, check with your doctor before using ginger.
  • To store, use an air-tight glass container to reduce air exposure, which can degrade the nutrients and change the taste of the juice.
